Booking questions

Kefalonia Car Rental FAQ: Booking, Roads, Pickup, Prices and Vehicle Choice

Yes. Kefalonia Airport pickup is usually the easiest choice if you arrive with luggage and want to start driving straight to your accommodation. Choose the airport as your pickup location in the booking form and use your real arrival time so the handover can be planned properly.

Delivery and collection can be arranged for many Kefalonia resorts, hotels and villa areas when available. The booking form uses the available pickup and drop-off places, and any location fee should be checked before confirming.

Use the expected landing time plus a little time for passport control, luggage and walking out of arrivals. If you are unsure, choose the closest practical time and include your flight details so the team can follow the arrival.

Contact AutoKefalonia as soon as you know, and include your booking name and flight number. Airport pickup can normally be adjusted around real arrival information, but it is always best to notify the team early.

Often yes, depending on the pickup and drop-off places available for your dates. Select the real return location in the booking form so any distance or delivery fee is shown before you confirm.

Driving in Kefalonia is manageable for most confident drivers, but the island has narrow village roads, bends, hills and busy beach parking in summer. Drive slowly, leave extra time, and avoid rushing on mountain or coastal roads.

For most visitors, yes. Kefalonia is a large island and many beaches, caves, villages and viewpoints are spread far apart. A rental car gives much more freedom than relying only on buses, taxis or organised transfers.

Yes, small economy cars are suitable for normal paved roads and are often easier to park in villages, beach areas and Argostoli. Choose a larger car mainly for luggage, passenger comfort or longer family day trips.

Not for normal sightseeing on paved roads. An SUV can feel more comfortable for luggage, height and rural accommodation access, but do not assume off-road driving is allowed or covered unless the rental terms clearly permit it.

Parking is usually manageable, but it becomes tighter in July and August, especially near popular beaches, ports and evening resort centres. Arrive early for famous beaches and allow extra time in Argostoli, Fiskardo and busy resort streets.

An economy car is usually enough for two people with light luggage and beach plans. Choose an automatic if you prefer easier driving, or a convertible if the trip is more scenic and luggage space is not the main priority.

For a family, choose based on luggage first. Compact family cars work for smaller groups, station wagon style cars give more luggage room, and a 7-seater is better when passengers and bags would make a normal car uncomfortable.

Yes, automatic cars are available, but they are usually more limited than manual economy cars. If you specifically need automatic transmission, book early for July, August and busy arrival days.

Yes, AutoKefalonia lists 7-seater options when available. They are useful for larger families and groups, but luggage space can still be limited when all seats are occupied, so check the vehicle details before booking.

A convertible can be a fun choice for couples and scenic drives, especially outside the hottest part of the day. It is less practical if you have large luggage, child seats or long beach days with lots of gear.

The cost depends on season, rental length, car category, transmission and demand. Use the prices page for orientation, then search your exact dates for live availability and the final booking price.

Yes, August is normally the highest-demand month in Kefalonia, so prices and availability can change quickly. Booking earlier gives you a better chance of finding the category you want.

Rental insurance terms should always be checked in the current booking conditions before confirming. If you have questions about cover, excess, exclusions or optional protection, ask AutoKefalonia before pickup so there are no surprises.

The goal is to show the important booking costs before confirmation, including the selected car, dates and pickup or drop-off location. Always review the final booking summary and ask before confirming if something is unclear.

Yes. Search your dates and locations first, then review the selected vehicle and booking summary before confirming. This is the safest way to compare the real cost for your trip.

Bring a valid driving licence, passport or ID, and the payment method agreed for your booking. If your licence is not in a format accepted in Greece, you may also need an International Driving Permit.

It depends on where your driving licence was issued and the licence format. EU licences are normally straightforward, but non-EU visitors should check Greek rental requirements before travelling and bring an International Driving Permit when needed.

Minimum age and licence-history requirements can vary by vehicle category and rental terms. Check the current conditions before booking, especially for larger, premium or special-category vehicles.

A second driver may be possible if they meet the same licence and age requirements. Add or request the second driver before pickup so the rental agreement and insurance details are correct.

Yes. Every AutoKefalonia rental includes standard insurance, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection. CDW limits your normal damage liability when the rental terms are followed.

The standard CDW excess is up to EUR 600 for A/B/C car groups and up to EUR 900 for larger or special car groups, when damage is the renter's fault and no exclusion applies.

Full Damage Waiver reduces the normal CDW excess to zero for covered damage. It costs EUR 10/day for A/B/C cars and EUR 20/day for larger or special cars.

Excluded items and situations include tyres, underside, mirrors, interior, wrong fuel, traffic-law violations, unauthorized drivers, alcohol or drug use, inappropriate roads, and breaches of the rental contract.

A credit card may be required when collecting the car. If you do not have one, some A/B/C group rentals may still be possible with advance payment of the rental value and a cash deposit that is returned after the car is checked.

Insurance does not cover damage from inappropriate roads or damage while the car is on a boat. Ask AutoKefalonia before planning ferry trips or routes to remote places with rough access.
